Trimmel Plus
Plus is an optional paid extra that I am planning. It is not available yet and nothing here is final. Everything Trimmel does today stays free, with no time limit.
What stays free
Anything that keeps you safe is free and will not move behind a paywall:
- Previews with sizes before anything is removed, and undo for startup changes and app moves.
- The health score, the plain-English explanations and the protected-process list.
- Cleanup, Startup, Storage, Apps, Old versions, Drivers scanning and moving apps back.
- Security fixes and the source code of the free app (MIT licence).
What Plus may add
The idea is to charge for saving you time, not for the basics. Candidates, roughly in the order I would build them:
- Automation: scheduled cleanup that reports what it freed, a low-disk alert, and a weekly health note.
- Unlimited app moves: the free app would keep a small allowance. Moving an app back would always be free.
- Deeper storage tools: every suggestion with one-click handling, a duplicate finder and a large-and-old files view.
- A history of what Trimmel did, which you can export.
Which of these matter to you is still open. Tell me in the discussion.
How it is planned to work
- A licence key, checked on your PC. The key is signed, so Trimmel checks it without contacting a server. It works offline.
- A 14-day free trial that you start yourself, with no card. When it ends, Trimmel returns to the free version. Nothing is deleted and nothing you changed is locked.
- If a key lapses, anything already moved or changed keeps working and can still be undone.
- No nagging. No pop-ups, no fake scan results, no countdowns. Plus appears in one place, Settings.
- Price: not set. I am looking at a low yearly price or a one-off price for people who dislike subscriptions. I will publish it here before anything goes on sale.
